Macross’ Massive Saga Finally Hits Disney+ and Hulu Next Week
Last year, Macross it was supposed to come to Disney + as part of an effort to bring the franchise outside of Japan, especially in the west. At the time, this was a big thing since different companies owned it and its western part Robotech they reached an agreement after spending years at odds. For whatever reason, the jump to Disney + didn’t happen in 2024 as planned, but it looks like that’s definitely happening in the next few days.
According to a tip provided by Anime News Network, 16 out of 18 Macross anime shows and movies will hit Disney+ and Hulu in the US this Monday, January 13. It seems the hiatus hasn’t solved the franchise’s nagging problems here in the west: when Macross comes, or Super Dimension Fortress Macross and its film version, Do you miss Love?, it will be on Disney+ or Hulu. They are two important parts of the overall business, but Harmony Gold’s hold on the license prevents those from being distributed worldwide outside of Japan.
So the complete list of Macross Monday’s press briefing is as follows:
- Macross Zero
- Cross 7
- Macross 7: The Galaxy is Calling Me!
- Macross Fb7 Listen to My Song!
- The Macross Frontier
- Macross Fronter: False Song
- Macross Fronter: Wings of Farewell
- Macross Fronter: Labyrinth of Time
- Macross Dynamite 7
- Macross Delta the movie: Passionate Valkyrie
- Macross Delta: Absolute Live !!!!!!
- Macross Plus
- Macross Plus Movie Edition
- Gekijō Tanpen Macross Frontier Toki no Meikyū
- Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Flash Back 2012
- Super Dimension Fortress Macross II: Lovers, Again
It may not be perfect, but it’s still not a bad price Macross things that come to services. Like last year, we hope that things will go where these two versions of The Super Dimension join all their other animated brethren, and all franchises are watched in one place.
