Luke Grimes hasn’t spoken to Kevin Costner since Yellowstone

Luke Grimes he didn’t talk to her Kevin Costner since his surprise exit Yellowstone.

“I haven’t spoken to him since,” Grimes, 40, said during the meeting Men’s Health MH Flex interview, published on Tuesday, December 17. “It’s not about hard feelings or anything. That’s right, he’s Kevin Costner.”

Grimes said Costner’s energy is the reason the costars haven’t connected yet, adding, “He’s a big deal. I have his phone number — I just don’t feel like it’s my access point. He can touch me if he wants.”

Despite not ending on a negative note, Grimes recalled how unexpectedly Costner, 69, left the show.

“None of us saw it coming the way it did, and obviously there was talk about a possible blowup behind the scenes or whatever,” he continued. “But as in human life, these things happen, they happen quickly, and they are unpredictable.”

Grimes compared the experience to a personal loss, saying, “I lost my dad a few years ago. It happened quickly, and it was not how you would think it would happen. In life these things happen and people must first make decisions. And our little ones Yellowstone in the world, which helped make this show a success.”

I’ve been seeing ads with my face all over the place and I’m thinking, ‘Oh, I’m not in that.’ But I didn’t know that yesterday was the thing,” Costner said on SiriusXM Program by Michael Smerconish last month about his character coming out. “I heard it was suicide, so that doesn’t make me want to rush to see it.”

“What’s great about Kayce is that he doesn’t fit into this old-school masculinity at all. He is the one in danger. If you’re in the West, it’s probably more fun to be a cool guy who doesn’t have emotions, who stays put, who can’t be defeated in a fight, and all that stuff,” he said. “Kayce spills — he loses sometimes. That’s the modern version of masculinity.”

Grimes admitted that it’s not always easy to get to an emotional place as an actor, adding, “He goes to war, but he’s not a war hero — it ruins his life, and he comes back a completely different person, too. you are dealing with this PTSD. It’s not fun going into that mentally, but I think it makes him a smarter, more realistic character, and maybe a better example of people who go through similar things in real life.”

He concluded: “And that goes back to Taylor. Taylor loves westerns, but she’s also incredibly smart, so there’s always more to everything.”
