Virginia Tech player blasts ACC after backtracking on Hail Mary walk: ‘I want to see results’

Virginia Tech had done it. They had pulled off a huge upset over the No. 7 ranked Miami Hurricanes on a Hail Mary road trip — at least they thought they had.
With three seconds left, down 38-34, Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones threw a prayer from the back of the endzone toward a field full of Hokies receivers and Hurricanes defenders.
It wasn’t clear who got the ball at the start, as both teams got up and celebrated that they had won the game. In the end, the referees indicated that it was a touchdown catch by Da’Quan Felton, making the Hokies think that the victory was 40-38 as time expired.

However, after a lengthy review, the field call was overturned. The pass was picked off incomplete, and the Hurricanes escaped with a 38-34 victory.
Hokies receiver Stephen Gosnell expressed his frustration about the overturned call on the X following the loss.
“(The Acc) knows what they did. I want to see the results,” Gosnell wrote.

The ACC released a statement following the game regarding the replay review process for overturning a touchdown call.
“During review of Virginia Tech’s final play at Miami, it was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player as he stepped out of bounds causing it to pass incomplete and immediately end the game,” the statement said.
Gosnell was in the end zone fighting for the ball in what would have been the game-winner had the call stood.
