CNN’s Bakari Sellers floated the idea of ​​President Biden replacing Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor with Vice President Kamala Harris before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.

“CNN News Central” host John Berman asked Sellers about concerns among Democrats about Trump and the majority of Senate Republicans who might replace Sotomayor, the third-oldest member of the Supreme Court.

Sellers argued that Sotomayor should step down so that Biden and the current Democratic majority can reinstate her months before Trump’s inauguration to ensure another liberal justice on the court.

“You know, Justice Sotomayor was fair. I know she may have had her own issues that she dealt with while on the bench. But, you know, I don’t want Justice Sotomayor to be another Ruth. Bader Ginsburg in terms of longevity,” Sellers said. “And so I hope Joe Biden makes the next ten weeks as straight as possible. I don’t care about drawing outside the lines or what the Republicans think about it. This is within you. You can do it too. Berman seemed taken aback by this proposal and asked to clarify whether Sellers is fulfilling the idea of ​​Harris becoming a Supreme Court judge.
