CNN aired the film in May, where Diddy was present he was seen being beaten Cassie, now 38, in a Los Angeles hotel. He grabbed Cassie by the neck, pushed her, dragged her and kicked her repeatedly.
“I knew how you felt, I wanted to get out of there and it just broke my heart,” Martinez said on Wednesday, October 9, The Secret Life of Diddy — 20/20 Special on ABC. He continued: “When I first heard about Sean Combs’ allegations, I was not surprised. Nothing really surprises me these days.”
“I can’t see that video of Cassie,” Martinez said. “You can tell me anything you want to tell me about him. I can’t help but see the video. You have helped others who feel unable to come forward and that is great. That you put yourself in line.”
Martinez was among the many victims who spoke in court in 2022 when R. Kelly, 57, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for fraud and sex trafficking. (Daughter of an artist, Joann Kelly, calls Kelly a “monster” in an upcoming TV documentary Karma by R. Kelly: Daughter’s Journey.)
Diddy, 54, faces charges of trafficking and sex trafficking as he awaits trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
The disgraced music star was arrested on Monday, September 16, and held in Manhattan after a grand jury indicted him following a series of sexual assault charges and a federal investigation. The 14-page lawsuit accuses Diddy of harassing, threatening and coercing women for years “in order to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and hide his behavior.”
Diddy has denied all the allegations against him and is pleading guilty.
On Wednesday, October 9, the rapper said that the Department of Public Security leaked video of him beating Cassie in hopes of “undermining” her “right to a fair trial.” He also filed a new motion for an evidentiary hearing in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Us Weekly confirmed.
“It was our team, that broke that video of Cassie being tortured in a horrible way and that came up during the trial last week when she was charged,” CNN reporter. Elizabeth Wagmeister said during the Thursday, September 26 episode “The Viall Files” a podcast. “That, according to all the legal experts who were on the CNN air, will be the most important evidence that can be shown to the jury.”
Wagmeister, 34, also revealed that the eight-year-old idol was already being blamed for Diddy’s crime before his team “saw for themselves”.
Hours after the company released the clip, Diddy he apologized for his behavior without mentioning Cassie by name.
“It’s hard to think about the darkest times in your life, sometimes you have to,” he said in May’s Instagram video. “I was f-ed up. I mean I hit the ground running but I don’t make excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I am disgusted.”
