Trump warns FEMA to face lawsuit after Biden boss: ‘They’re not doing their job’

President Donald Trump warned late Wednesday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will face a lawsuit after four years under the Biden administration, saying the emergency agency “hasn’t done its job.”

“FEMA hasn’t done its job for the last four years. You know, I had a very good FEMA. We had hurricanes in Florida. We had hurricanes in Alabama. But unless you have some kind of leadership, really, it comes in. And FEMA is going to be a big conversation very soon, because I prefer to see the states take care of their own problems,” Trump said Wednesday in an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News, his. first White House interview since his inauguration.

Trump then turned his attention to the state of Oklahoma, claiming that he won all 77 states in the 2024 election, and said that if the Sooner State is hit by a hurricane, state leaders should take the lead in emergency response before the convention. the federal government is stepping in for more help.

“I love Oklahoma, but you know what? If they get hit by a hurricane or something, let Oklahoma fix it. … Then the federal government can help them with money. FEMA is disrupting everything, and the Democrats are actually using FEMA to not help North Carolina, “said Trump.

FEMA came under the national microscope last year when Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, devastating residents as it destroyed homes and businesses and killed more than 100 people. FEMA and the Biden administration have faced severe backlash over their emergency management, and Trump has accused the agency of blocking relief efforts in Republican areas.

“Democrats don’t care about North Carolina. What they did with FEMA is very bad. FEMA is a complete ‘other conversation, because everything it does includes everything, “he said.

“So I’m stopping on Friday. I’m stopping in North Carolina, first of all, because those people are being treated very badly by the Democrats. And I’m stopping there. We’re going to fix that thing because of them.” I’m still suffering from the storm months ago,” said Trump.

Trump will visit North Carolina on Friday, his first trip as president, where he is expected to visit and meet with residents left devastated by the storm in September. He will also visit California on the same day, where wildfires have ravaged the Los Angeles area this month.

The trip is designed to highlight what Trump has described as a failure of emergency management at the hands of Democratic leaders.

“And then I’ll go to California,” he said, before criticizing Gov. Gavin Newsom for handling and responding to the wildfires. Trump has long criticized the Democratic governor for prioritizing environmental policies, such as protecting the dwindling salmon and Chinook salmon populations, and not maintaining water sources in the northern part of the state that he says would allow for a better fire response.
