The strong earthquake strikes the Caribbean Sea, the Tsunami threat

The 7.6 earthquake attacked between the Caribbean Sea, about 200 miles south of Cayman Islands on February 8, 2025.

Strong, 10 miles[10 km]underground, stimulates the National Weather Services program (NSUNAMI , Nicaragua, and Guatemala.

“The turbulence known to produce tsunamis is dangerous to shorelines next to the source,” says NWs in one of its statements.

Many warnings have been reduced, but tsunami waves have 1-3 meter over the level of Cuba coast, and tsunami waves reach 0 honduras.

Tsunami advice was issued in Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, but they were raised afterwards.

Fortunately, since the earthquake was offshore, there has never been a quick damage or injury.

No Tsunami threats to the Gulf of Mexico or Eastern Seaboard.
