The Ayaneo 3 looks like an improvement in almost every way

There’s a new handheld gaming console in town, joining the ever-crowded field. The Ayaneo 3 is the manufacturer’s latest mobile device, following last year’s Ayaneo 2S. This Windows-based handset looks to be an improvement in almost every major way than before.

The Ayaneo 3 will be available in several different versions. Buyers can choose between two processors, AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen 7 8840U. The HX 370 is a more powerful option, offering “an extraordinary handheld gaming experience with AI support.” It’s worth noting that the 8840U should still be able to run most modern games, as the company says it’s a good choice for “gamers who prefer classic performance.”

People can also choose between two display options. There is a model with a usable 7-inch LCD screen and another with a 7-inch OLED. Portable devices are really coming out with OLED screens.

Every model has a new back button design, to provide a “rich button combination experience.” The company says the design is “ergonomically designed” so that one’s fingers can easily reach those buttons on the back. There’s also a trigger lock feature, providing “improved control over both popular and retro games.” Otherwise, the forward-facing buttons and tilted joystick layout are standard.

The front-facing speakers get a refresher here, with Ayaneo promising “more focused sound than expected.” It says they’ve been developed for “intense collaboration with audio professionals” and will provide “low volume” and “depth and clarity.”

That’s all we know for now. Ayaneo says it will release more information soon, including new features and “more innovative controls.” No price yet and no release date.
