Dragon Age: The Veilguard It wastes no time in showing the full glory of its masterful graphics and stunning storytelling. Once you’ve spent some time in the (excellent) character creator, you only have a few minutes left before you fight to stop the end of the world. Solas, an eccentric villain from the previous game, tries to blur the line between spirit and the human world. And in the process, his magical event fills the screen with a dazzling array of neon lights, color and shadows. If you have a modern GPU, you’re ready for a ray tracing workout.
I’m a gamer of simple pleasures, and I’ll admit, that bombastic sequence alone was enough to make me fall. Dragon Age: The Veilguard. What kept me playing, however, was BioWare’s classic formula of interesting characters and sharp storytelling. I will forgive many mistakes Mass Effect Andromeda, The Veilguard’s A group of ragtag heroes makes it clear that BioWare still has its own narrative.
However, what is really surprising is that Dragon Age: The Veilguard it’s also a decent action RPG, with fast-paced and challenging combat that feels reminiscent of the latter. God of War games rather than anything from Dragon Age proper. There’s a rich skill tree to follow, and you can respec without penalty.
For a game that can literally take a hundred hours to complete, Veilguard I can still feel fresh and exciting every time I sit down to play. So, I don’t mind if it doesn’t hit as hard as the previous entries, or if it doesn’t give you as many options in a row as Baldur’s Gate 3.
