Eight people have died after a stabbing at a school in Wuxi in eastern China

Eight people died and 17 were injured following a stabbing incident outside a school in eastern China.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at Wuxi Yixing Arts and Crafts Vocational and Technical College in the city of Wuxi at around 18:30 local time (10:30 GMT), according to a statement from local police.
The statement said he graduated from school in 2024 and carried out the attack after “not receiving his diploma due to poor exam results” and that he was unhappy with his apprenticeship salary.
He confessed to his crime “without hesitation,” the police said.
They added that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to “handle the consequences”.
The attack follows Monday’s incident there at least 35 people died when a driver crashed a car into the crowd at the stadium in the southern city of Zhuhai.
Police said the driver was unhappy about the divorce decision, but the incident has raised questions about recent incidents of violence in the community.
On social media there have been discussions about the social possibility of “social revenge”when people act on their grievances by attacking strangers.
