Milla Jovovich To Star In George A. Romero’s Final Zombie Movie, Twilight of the Dead

George A. Romero was working on what would have been his last zombie film when he died in 2017 and now, after years of teasing, it’s finally happening. Romero’s estate teamed up with production company Roundtable to bring the film, called Night of the Dead, in life. And while the company has already hired Brad Anderson (Session 9) to direct, now they’ve added Milla Jovovich (Part Five) and Betty Gabriel (Exit) to insert an asterisk.

“We are thrilled to share Milla Jovovich’s return to the zombie genre in this new and original way. Night of the Dead,” Sarah Donnelly of the Roundtable told Deadline. “With Brad’s intelligence, visionary direction and Milla’s unique ability to command the screen as a true action star with emotional depth and intensity, there is no doubt that this film will be a standout, captivating genre.”

It’s dusk it will be the seventh film in Romero’s career, which began with the epic 1968 Night of the Living Dead and it continued in 1978 Dawn of the Deadin 1985 Day of the Deadin 2005 Land of the Dead, in 2007 Diary of the Dead, and 2009 Survival of the Dead. This time, the film will be set on a tropical island and “look into the darkness of humanity from the perspective of the last people on earth caught between the hordes of the dead,” according to Deadline.

“I see this film in the same light as successful post-apocalyptic thrillers I Am Legend, A Quiet Place, The roadagain The Last of Us– stories of the emotional kind as they are intense,” said Anderson. “When I first read Twilight of the Dead I cried at the end. Strange thing about a movie of this type. But it has that kind of pull, that combination of horror and heartache that I love. “

There’s no word on who Jovovich or Gabriel are playing, or when the film will be released, but it will be shot in 2025.
