Ho, Ho, Ho, Return of the Living Dead Rises Again!

We’ve had a few zombie franchises over the past decade, but one that hasn’t been seen in a long time Return of the Living Dead films. The last movie dropped in 2005, but it looked like things were going to change when a new movie was announced in 2023. Luckily for fans, the series will officially return next year, just in time for the original film’s 40th anniversary.
After a few teasers on Friday, the studio released the trailer for the next film, also titled Return of the Living He is dead. Instead of a reboot as originally believed, it’s actually a continuation of the original film: set almost two years later in the winter of 1985, the Tarman zombie is back and looking to wreak havoc in the unnamed Pennsylvania town where the new film is set. The Living Dead said they don’t expect any returning characters from the first movie, given the “bad endings,” but teased audiences will be “welcomed back to the darkly funny, captivating, disturbing, Trioxin that inspired fans of the horror world for the first time.”
First of all Return of the Living Dead centers on a zombie-infested city that suddenly wakes up after a poisonous gas accidentally revives all its corpses. In a press release, director/writer Steve Wolsh set the stage by revealing that it was made entirely of effects and location, and the cemetery that Tarman walks through was designed to replicate the original film, Resurrection Cemetery. “Using widescreen anamorphic lenses, we captured the effects of swirling snow in the night sky giving it an amazing look and texture,” he said. “It will be interesting for people to see the whole film made like this.”
Return of the Living Dead theaters for Christmas 2025.
