Ray Romano gave up two comics before finding major success

LOS ANGELES – Ray Romano was “beaten down” in the early days of his stand-up career, which caused him to quit.
During the premiere of his Netflix series “No Good Deed,” Romano was accompanied by his family. He married his wife, Anna, in 1987. The couple has four children: daughter Alexandra, twin sons Matthew and Gregory, and son Joseph.
In November, Romano’s twin sons, 31, released their documentary, “The Roman Twins.” In the documentary, the “Everybody Loves Raymond” star discussed how he gives all his children advice when it comes to their careers and revealed that he gave up on his dreams not once, but twice.

“They walk slowly and stand up, they come to these small diving, they try to stand up for the first time, people don’t even look at the stage. There aren’t even people inside. And of course, it doesn’t go well, and you take it personally,” said the star about his youngest son, Joseph Romano.
RAY ROMANO COULD HAVE SUFFERED A ‘DEATH’ WITH THE HEART DISCONNECTED BEFORE BEGINNING THE HEART PROCEDURE.
“So, I had to almost grab him and go, ‘You don’t understand. First of all, you can’t do well in a place like that, and you can’t do well when … it’s your first time on stage. So, I understand that you’re hurt, but you really have no right to be upset right now.’

“Getting up takes a long time. That’s all I told him, ‘Please don’t be like that, because I was.’ I gave it up twice, I gave it up, and I got hit a second time.
“I let it go twice. You know, I got hit the first time. I let it go, and I got hit the second time.”
Romano stars with “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow in the upcoming comedy series. Speaking to Fox News Digital at the premiere, Romano said her chemistry with Kudrow was instant.
“It was from the beginning. I had never met him. We were filming our TV shows [‘Friends’ and ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’] back two separate stages on the Warner Brothers lot, and we hadn’t met yet.”

“So, yes, I was worried. As I always am, you know, he just got comfortable. You know, I was his fan. He says he was my fan. I’ll take his word for it,” said Romano. “We’re committed to the family and being neurotic and insecure. And the chemistry was there. I mean, sometimes you get lucky and it’s easy. And this one was easy.”

Romano explained that Kudrow was a fan of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” which he didn’t believe at first. For seven years, Kudrow was unaware that the cast and crew of Romano’s sitcom were being filmed two stages away.

“He said, ‘Well, but I’ve watched all the episodes,’ and I thought he was trying to make it up. But then, later on, he started quoting episodes and lines, and I knew he was telling the truth. So it was cool,” Romano explained.

“We were in the same place shooting our programs. He likes to say that I didn’t know he was there… I didn’t do that because we were already shooting our program on our set, but I don’t know. I just felt it. I would like to meet him.”
