Jamie Lee Curtis Makes $1 Million Donation to LA Wildfire Relief Fund
Jamie Lee Curtis provides great assistance to all those affected by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
“My family is donating $1 million today to relief efforts,” the 66-year-old actor shared a post on Thursday, January 9, on Instagram. “We are communicating with the Governor [Gavin] NewsomMayor [Karen] Bassand the Senator [Adam] Schiff and I will write more often about where to send the necessary services to reputable agencies.”
Curtis shared a similar message in the caption of the post, writing: “My husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million to our Family Foundation to start a fund to support our great city and county and the great people who live and love it. ” (Curtis shares daughters Annie, 34, and Ruby, 25, with her husband, Christopher Guest.)
Curtis’ donation comes one day after he was touched by the spirit discussing the wildfires during an appearance The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I’m literally about to cry,” he said at the start of his interview on Wednesday, January 8.
“As you know, the place where I live is burning right now. In fact, the entire city of Pacific Palisades is burning,” he continued. “I flew here last night. I was on the plane, I started getting texts and it was f—ing gnarly, you guys. It’s just a disaster in Southern California. Apparently, there were terrible fires in many places [but] this is where I literally live.”
Curtis noted that “everything” in his community has been destroyed, from the market where he shops to his children’s schools to his friends’ homes. After visiting New York City for her Tonight Show appearance, Curtis revealed that he would return to California the next day.
“If you know anyone on the West Coast or not – the American Red Cross, support them. They will come in and help people. Do whatever you can, whatever in your community to help people,” he told viewers on Wednesday. “Whether you need it now or not, you will need it. Give blood, donate, do whatever you can, [help] animal shelters.”
As an ambassador for the American Red Cross, Curtis also encouraged people to prepare for emergencies with items such as prescriptions and glasses, pet food, baby formula and more.

The wildfires started on Tuesday, January 7, and have quickly spread across the LA area with Santa Ana winds. Thousands of people have been forced to leave this region, many have lost their homes due to this fire, including celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal again Anna Faris.

Todd Owyoung/NBCCurtis informed fans that his house “might” be on fire in an Instagram post on Wednesday, but clarified that he and his family are safe. “It’s a scary situation and I’m grateful to the firefighters and all the good Samaritans who helped people get away from the fire. Neighbors take care of their neighbors,” citing a picture of a house bursting into flames. “We ALL take everything for granted because we all live our lives, but when it comes to your area, it’s very shocking. Life on life’s terms. If you ever were [a] the need to use the saying, MY HAND TO YOU, is now.”
Curtis continued to share photos and videos of the wildfire’s devastating impact on social media, along with well wishes to those affected. “WE WILL HELP EACH OTHER!” posted a glimpse of the fire burning behind Sunset Blvd. road sign on Thursday.
