Israeli, Emirati officials are investigating the disappearance of Rabbi Zvi Kogan

An Orthodox Jewish rabbi is feared dead after “terrorist involvement” was discovered in connection with his recent disappearance, prompting a Mossad investigation.

Rabbi Zvi Kogan, a Chabad delegate, was a resident of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates when he went missing on Thursday. He is a dual citizen of Moldova and Israel.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kogan works as a recruiter and is “interested in volunteering and working [his] society.”

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced its investigation into the unusual disappearance on Saturday. The statement said the disappearance appeared to be related to a “terrorist incident” but did not elaborate.

“Since he disappeared, given the information that shows that this is a terrorist incident, ongoing investigations are still ongoing in the country,” said a statement from the office written on X. “Israel’s security and intelligence agencies, responsible for Kogan’s safety and well-being, have been working diligently on this case.

“This is also a reminder that for a while, according to the recommendations of the NSC, there has been a level 3 warning – given to the UAE, with a recommendation to avoid any non-essential travel there, and those in the country – take extra precautions.”

UAE officials are also investigating. In a statement issued on Saturday night, Emerati official Majed Al Mansoori “confirmed that the Ministry is closely monitoring the case of the missing citizen of Moldova, Zvi Kogan, and is close to his family to provide them with all the necessary support.

The Chabad organization asked its followers on social media to “pray” for the missing rabbi on Saturday.
