Inside Princess Kate and Prince William’s Christmas Plans with the Kids
The holidays have historically been an exciting time for the royal family, filled with long-standing traditions such as opening presents on Christmas Eve at Sandringham Estate and taking part in the annual Christmas morning pilgrimage to St. Mary Magdalene. Because Princess Kate again Prince Williamit’s the time of year when they retreat to their cozy home and sit down with their three children for quiet walks in the woods, board games and favorite Christmas movies.
This season is set to be a very special one for the Prince and Princess of Wales after a difficult 2024, when Kate, 42, and William’s 76-year-old father, King Charles III, battle cancer (Charles continues to receive treatment; Kate announced she is cancer-free in a September video message). “This past year has been one of the most difficult challenges yet [them],” royal expert Sharon Carpenter he says in the middle Us WeeklyLatest cover story. Kate’s gratitude was on full display in a heartfelt letter she shared with guests who attended her fourth annual Together Christmas service at Westminster Abbey (showing in the UK on December 24). The event honors those who have shown “love, kindness and compassion” to others – sentiments Kate now holds dear. “Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year,” wrote the mother of three. “It is a time of celebration and joy, but it also gives us an opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. This music service is a celebration from the heart of all of you,” he added, “and a reminder that at Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all enlighten one another.”
Magical Time
Before joining the usual festivities with the rest of the royal family, William, 42, and Kate got into the holiday spirit with their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. Over the years, they’ve attended school concerts and visited the farm the trees of the area. At Anmer Hall – a five-minute walk from Sandringham – they will bake, write their wish lists, play games like Risk and Monopoly and watch films (The Elf is a favorite). The focus will be on children. Support System
Kate got strength from her father-in-law. “She has a special bond with Charles after they both went through similar life situations at the same time,” says Carpenter. “They’ve always been together.” Their health issues have had a unifying effect on the entire family. “Family members have done an amazing job stepping up to do extra work in his absence,” added Carpenter. “From William burning the candle at both ends at home and at work to Queen Camilla showing the same kind of royal support, and other members of the royal family going the extra mile to make things work – they’re all closer than ever.”

Kate will enter the new year with high hopes. “As William said in September, ‘there’s still a long way to go,’ and Kate will no doubt do what she’s going to do.
