In Skeleton Crew, Neel Wants Star Peace, Not Star Wars

After three episodes of Star Wars: The Skeleton Crewit is clear who the breakout actor is. It’s Neel, an adorable blue elephant with precious hair and aw-shucks charms. And, like clockwork, it was time to put the character front and center in episode four. What a great, full, fun episode it is star Wars history.

The fourth episode of The Skeleton Crewcalled “Can’t Say I Remember No At Attin,” done star Wars history in that it is the second time an Oscar-winning director has helped something star Wars. The honor first went to Ron Howard Alone and now, the Daniels, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who do Everything Everywhere At Oncehelp this episode of The Skeleton Crew. So, I think, it’s the first time Oscar-winning directors have done a star Wars A Disney+ show. And, as expected, they crushed it, with a nice, cool episode that had a little bit of everything.

The episode saw the crew travel to the planet Achrann, which looks an awful lot like Attin’s home planet, only older and more dusty. It seems that Kh’ymm was close, but slightly out of his calculations (or at least the “Treasures of the Old Republic” all seem to be grouped by similar structures and naming conventions). As the crew goes exploring they find the Troik, one of two warring factions in the world. They are led by General Strix (played by Mathieu Kassovitz, best known to fans of the film as a love interest Amelia) and her daughter Hayna (Netflix’s Hala Finley We are heroes). The Troik are fighting Hattan, recently, who stole their eopies (recently seen playing a podrace on Tatooine, or Obi-Wan Kenobi).

Troik treats children like adults, so the General wants to train a battle group. But Neel doesn’t have it. As Wim, Fern, and KB fire blasters, Neel plays the pacifist, which catches Hayna’s attention. The two form a fast friendship when Neel asks why his people need to fight in the first place and if they ever thought it would ever end, or how. “If it was me, I would just say sorry,” said Neel. “There is no more fighting. But that’s probably because I’m too scared. We know that Hayna’s heart melts at that moment, because ours melts too.

Neither he nor Neel can stop the inevitable so the Troik sets off to fight Hattan, with Strix forcing the children forward. It’s an incredibly intense moment, and for a second you think star Wars it may actually put these children at the heart of a deadly firefight. That’s when, out of the blue, Jod came. It seems that he and 33 paid off Hattan (by checking Wim’s credits, much to his dismay) and returned the eopies to Troik. A good deed allows him to rescue the children and continue their journey. The journey has now come to a halt.

To find a way out of this strange carbon copy of their planet, the Troik suggest the crew visit the Fallen Sanctum, a place that may have links to Attin. Before they leave, Neel asks Hayna if she wants to go with them. He won’t, he says he won’t forget her and kisses her lightly. Even on blue skin, you can see Neel blushing. It’s all classic young love tropes, but those are tropes star Wars he rarely gets a chance to play, and it’s nice to see here.

In the Fallen Sanctum, the crew finds links to every ancient planet except one: Attin. Those were somehow destroyed and, it turns out, 33 did. At this point, his constant repetition of “I can’t remember him in Attin” from the first episode until now, along with his knowledge of Achrann, clue us in to what’s going on here. The last captain of the 33rd was hunting for treasure in Attin and ordered him to destroy the links (and help kill anyone in the group who saw them) to keep the location a secret. And, we know they got there, at least, because that’s where the ship was stuck.

Fern also reveals it but when he erases the order that keeps Attin from his memory, 33 is interrupted. He says that he is trained to rip off anyone who asks for the coordinates of the body, which is when three things happen. One, 33 expands to a much larger, more intimidating droid. Second, Daniels turns those directional muscles that place the camera on 33 himself, giving us a close-up, third-person, Sam Raimi-esque view of his torture. And the third time, Neel saves his friends by blocking 33’s attack with a stone, strengthened by his time with Hayna. When 33 turns on Neel, Jod has to save him by shutting down the droid at the last minute. Everything is small again However, great courage for Neel, who storms out as his friends celebrate him for saving their lives.

The latest The Skeleton Crew he was perfect, fast, Star Wars the trip. There is wish fulfillment, new characters and cool creatures, we get to see and think about real behavior, and new love is also in the air. Here’s hoping we haven’t seen the last of the Troik–especially Hayna, for Neel’s sake.
