Hundreds of paratroopers jump to mark the WW2 invasion

Eighty years after hundreds of Allied soldiers disembarked from military planes into the Nazi-occupied Netherlands as part of the Second World War invasion, their modern-day counterparts are once again commemorating.
In a spectacular atmosphere, 700 paratroopers from eight NATO nations – including the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and the US – took off in 12 aircraft.
The jump was made in two waves, and those involved arrived at the same spot on Ginkel Heath, near the Dutch town of Ede.
Among them were members of the parachute display team, the British Red Devils.
The airdrop is one of several events planned to mark the anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the ambitious military offensive designed to accelerate the invasion of Nazi Germany and reduce the war in Europe.
