How to Draw a Rose (Free Printables + Video)

How To Draw A Rose Video

There are six easy-to-follow steps below to teach kids to draw a rose. They should simplify the process for children of all ages and abilities.

How to Draw a Rose Step by Step

Step 1

Start with your marker in the center of the page and make a small swirl. Its bottom should basically look like an upside-down Y with a twisting tail. Finally, draw a short straight line down from the right edge of the swirl and another below the center of the swirl.

Step 2

Now you will draw two almost heart-like shapes from either side of the center of the rose. Then, you will draw a cloud-like shape on top.

Step 3

Now we will build on top of the existing rose shape. Add two shapes on both sides. These forms must go out, reach a certain point, and then return down to the ground where they meet.

Step 4

We’re going to pull out the rose shape a bit in this step. Draw an upside down half moon shape where the center meets the point you created below in the last step. Finally add another shape from the last one. It should land in an upside down position.

Step 5

Now it’s time to continue adding petals to our rose and make it really come to life! Add another petal on the left and right sides. Then, add another petal below that joins the two petals you just created.

Step 6

With the petals finished, now it’s time to add the leaves. You can add about four leaves, two on each side. Draw them in slightly different sizes and shapes to get a realistic effect. Once drawn, add a line down between each one and a few smaller lines from it. You can also add short lines between the other petals to complete it. Finally, color in your chosen type.
