Vice President Kamala Harris lashed out at the border and immigration policies of the Biden-Harris administration when pressed on the border crisis during a CNN town hall hosted by Anderson Cooper.

“Let’s talk about this compromise bill that you want to pass if you’re elected. You said that would be a priority. It includes $650 million in funding for the border wall. It’s something that the Republicans wanted that was part of the deal. Under Donald Trump, you’ve criticized the wall more than 50 times. You’ve called it ‘stupid, it is useless, and a vain medieval project.’ Is the border wall stupid?,” Cooper asked Harris on Wednesday.

“Let’s talk about Donald Trump on that border wall,” Harris said with a laugh. “So remember, Donald Trump said Mexico was going to pay for it. Come on, they didn’t. How much of that wall is he building? I think the last number I saw was about 2%. Then it was time for him to do a photo op, you know, where he did part of the wall created by President Obama.”

“But he agreed to a bill that would set aside $650 million to continue building that,” Cooper pressed.

“You’re right, Anderson. And as of today, we’ve cut immigration by more than half. In fact, the numbers I’ve seen lately, illegal immigration,” Harris told Cooper.

“If it was that easy without executive action, why don’t we do it in 2022, 2023?” Cooper pressed on.

“Because we’ve been working with Congress and we hope we can fix this problem long-term instead of short-term,” Harris responded.
