A suspect opened fire near Tennessee State University (TSU) in Nashville on Saturday evening, killing at least one person and injuring many others.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) announced that the fatal shooting occurred shortly before the start of the football game at approximately 5:10 pm between TSU and Eastern Illinois University at Nissan Stadium.
“Multiple victims were injured following a shooting at Jefferson Street and 27th Avenue North,” police wrote on Facebook at 6:30 p.m. “The scene is safe and the victims are in local hospitals.”

In the analysis, the police said that a 24-year-old man died and 10 victims were confirmed.
“Currently, there are 10 victims confirmed to be involved in the shooting, one of whom is deceased,” said MNPD Public Information Officer Brooke Reese during a press conference.
“Five of them were transported from the Nashville Fire Department to local hospitals,” he said. “The other five were dropped off by private vehicles.”

Reese said the three non-critical victims were children and were transported to a nearby children’s hospital.

He stated that at least one of the injured is suspected to have had a hand in the gunshot.
