Google accidentally leaked a preview of its Jarvis AI that could take over computers

Jarvis is real. Google’s new AI prototype found its way into the public by accident via the Chrome Web Store. This isn’t just some AI assistant that can tell you the weather or remind you about doctor’s appointments. reported that the store’s page describes the Jarvis prototype as a “helpful web browsing companion” for web browsers to take care of common tasks such as grocery shopping, flight bookings and research topics.

In other words, Google’s new AI has the ability to control a computer to complete these simple tasks without human manual input. The prototype that appeared in the Google extension store was not in full working mode. The reporter tried to use Jarvis but the access permissions prevented the app from performing any tasks.

Google took down Jarvis’ store page in the afternoon before . Jarvis will have some competition for clothes like Anthropic and it started its public beta phase last month. Anthropic’s AI assistant can do more than just basic tasks through a web browser. Claude can take the computer to type text, activate buttons and move the cursor.
