Former Notre Dame star fuels national title game hype with scathing criticism of Ohio State’s Will Howard.
Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star Malik Zaire fueled the heat of Saturday’s national championship game with a scathing criticism of Ohio State quarterback Will Howard.
Howard led the Buckeyes to a College Football Playoff semifinal victory over the Texas Longhorns, 28-14. Howard was 24-of-33 with 289 passing yards and a touchdown pass. He was interrupted again.

Zaire wasn’t sure if Howard would be able to do enough to defeat the Fighting Irish on Jan. 20.
“All the good QBs Ohio State has had in the last 15 years and Howard isn’t too bad and ostate fans are trying to convince me he’s going to lead them to the chip?!?! Lmao ok,” Zaire wrote on X. “I’d even take OG Jalin Marshall at QB over Howard!!!!!!!!”
Zaire added that Ohio State’s loss to Michigan before the start of the College Football Playoff was more questionable than Notre Dame’s season-opening loss to Northern Illinois.

“Ok let’s be honest, we got beat by NIU which was embarrassing. But yall got beat by Michigan for the fourth year in a row, at home as a 20+pt favorite, the flag was planted in the middle of yall and beat. after the game while the coach was watching…..nothing to tell me right about this Ohio State team,” he added.
Notre Dame will look for its first national championship during the College Football Playoff, but it must face a tough defense and an offense that can explode in big games.
The Fighting Irish narrowly defeated Penn State in their semifinal game.
