David Axelrod calls out Tim Walz for avoiding TV interviews: ‘Confounding’

Former Obama advisor David Axelrod called out Kamala Harris’ vice president Tim Walz for avoiding TV interviews, adding that he is “confused” as it puts Walz at a disadvantage when it comes to the debate.
The senior political analyst was asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper how Walz disappeared from television during the campaign.
“I’ve been a little confused by the absence of both the presidential candidate and the vice presidential candidate on television since they became the nominees, because that’s how people will know. And they’ve never spent much time with either of them before,” Axelrod said.
“He was finished before he was elected when he was campaigning for vice president,” he added.

Axelrod concluded that Walz was putting himself at a disadvantage.
“So I also think it might be a problem that Waltz didn’t do this. Staying with him [the media] prepares well for debates. It’s good to practice hitting at these events. Waltz wasn’t doing it. So I ask you that,” he said, “It’s confusing.
Harris took the heat for largely avoiding the media. For example, in 72 days as the official nominee of the Democratic Alliance, he has yet to hold one official press conference.

Harris has stepped up his talks in recent weeks after being criticized for relying too much on scripted viewing. He has been doing hits and solo shows with a Philadelphia TV station. He also spoke to him MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle and made an appointment to spend time with supporter Oprah Winfrey last month.
