‘Daily Show’ reacts to Joe Biden’s ‘garbage’ comments

As the election campaign draws to a close, President Joe Biden has caused a bit of a stir by appearing to call Donald Trump’s supporters “scum” in a video interview – Biden insisted he was referring specifically to Trump rally comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who was headed to Puerto. Rico as a “garbage island”.
“Come on…Joe Biden is still president?” he says The Daily Show host Ronnie Chieng in the clip above. “I mean, calling Trump supporters ‘trash’ right before the election sounds crazy to say, or to believe that. I mean, wait six more days, man.”
Chieng goes on to say that the Democrats also said that Biden was not calling Trump’s supporters trash, but his comment should have had an apostrophe in it to make it clear that it was directed at Hinchcliffe.
“Of course, in the last week of the campaign, the Republicans are calling for immigration integration, and the Democrats are like, ‘You have to put the apostrophe in the right place,'” Chieng said. “This election is really coming down to Nazis versus grammar Nazis.”
