Claire McCaskill laments Hunter Biden pardon gives Republicans ‘bullets’: ‘I hate it’

Former Democratic Vice President Claire McCaskill on Monday lamented the “bullets” that President Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter will give Trump to the world.

“When I saw this pardon last night, I wished I wasn’t going to be on TV today. Although, if I’m going to be on TV, I’m really glad I’m on TV with you,” McCaskill. said Nicolle Wallace on MSNBC’s “Deadline: The White House.”

“Here’s the thing,” he added. “Do I understand the Joe Biden pardon? Yes, absolutely. I do. It’s completely understandable. But people on ‘both sides’ just got really powerful bullets. And for that reason, I hate it.”

He added that he “doesn’t blame” Biden for what he did, calling him a “very good man” who “loves his family very much.” Despite that, he regretted how he had repeatedly insisted that he would never forgive his son.

He said, “For him to repeatedly say he’s not going to do this and then do it, it allows for a mountain of lies and scandals — I mean, an endless amount of horrible corruption and a lack of integrity that’s just caused the whole world. Trump — it kind of allows them to say, ‘Well, you see, he’s just the same, Joe Biden is no different.’

“Yes, Joe Biden is different than Donald Trump. He’s not the same,” McCaskill said. “I wish Biden would always say, ‘I will pardon my son because this is political persecution.’ The fact that he said he won’t do it again now, I hate that.

Biden announced that he had forgiven his son on Sunday night, saying the charges against Hunter were unjust.

“Today, I signed the pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden said in a statement. “From the day I took office, I said that I will not interfere in the decision-making of the Department of Justice, I kept my word as I watched my son being prosecuted in a selective and unfair manner.”

The announcement came after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly insisted over the past few years that she would accept the outcome of Hunter’s trial.

Some Democrats and liberal media figures have also criticized Biden’s decision, despite defending the president.
