Old franchises are back in fashion again, and the pendulum has finally swung scary Movie. We learned that just before Halloween scary Movie he would have risen from the dead—and now there is a release date. The Miramax Films horror comedy series is set to return with a new movie on June 12, 2026.
Horror Movie 6 sees the Wayans Brothers Marlon, Keenan Ivory, and Shawn return to the series for the first time since leaving after the chaos-Scary Movie 2. Where the first two movies played are popular slashers Shout out again I Know What You Did Last Summer, Wayans-less sequels focused on the broader horror genre, from Call it again Resentments movies to Unusual Work. Although none of them were critical darlings, almost all of them made a lot of money. They were also a part of pop culture, leading to other (and arguably smaller) comedy films that flooded theaters in the late 2000s, like them. Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie, again Vampires are disgusting.
The first four scary Movie films that are fondly remembered by fans and helped introduce audiences to Wayans and co-leads Anna Faris and Regina Hall. Currently, it is not clear if Faris and Hall are returning with Wayans, as well as which films they will be starring in this time. But at least we know that some laughs are on the way, and all we have to do is live until June 12, 2026 to be able to laugh at whatever Wayan and company cook up.
