The First Teaser Of The Live Action How To Train Your Dragon Recreates The Animated Icon

Universal Pictures has finally given us our first look at its live action How to Train Your Dragon the movie.

How to Train Your Dragon you follow a tribe of Vikings who show their worth by hunting mighty dragons. That is, except for the officer’s son, Hiccup (Mason Thames of Black Phone fame), who befriends a black dragon named Toothless and trains him to be a human best friend—while keeping their training sessions a secret from his aforementioned tribe of dragon-slaying Vikings.

The teaser trailer clears everything up about how naysayers would break out their bingo cards when it comes to the song and dance of another live-action project from Hollywood. First, it shows us stunning views of the mountainous countryside, impressive ship art, and the original film actor Gerard Butler in Viking Awakening as the chieftain, Stoick. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Hiccup and Toothless meeting for the first time… all the while recapping the big moment from the first film of Toothless accepting Hiccup’s pat on the head.

Although we’re teasing today’s trailer as our first look, it’s fair to say so How to Train Your Dragon’the teaser trailer leaked ahead of its official release in non-US territories. Although, with a glass half-full view of the whole situation, people didn’t complain about how bad the trailer looked like they did with the first official image of the film, pointing out its dull colors and lack of vibrancy.

As the trailer shows, the CG animation of Toothless looks very good and the set pieces of the Viking village can also be compared to the animated films. While the short trailer highlights an important part of what makes Toothless look good, time will tell if the film will live up to its creator’s heart and humor.

How to Train Your Dragon first released in 2010. Along with Butler, the film starred Jay Baruchel as Hiccup and America Ferrera as his love interest, Astrid. It became so popular that it spawned two sequels, five short films, and two TV series. The live-action film was written and directed by Dean DeBlois, who co-wrote and directed the first animated feature, and wrote and directed its two sequels. Additional cast members include Nico Parker (The Last of Us) as Astrid, Nick Frost as Gobber, and Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2) as Fishlegs.

How to Train Your Dragon It is expected to be released on June 13, 2025.
