Titan Travel, a travel company based in the United Kingdom, conducted research to find the most popular and visited cities, countries and landmarks.

Tourism experts have created a social media index for 2024 looking at which destinations have the most posts on Instagram and TikTok and the number of Google searches.

Dubai in the United Arab Emirates took the crown of the most popular city seen on TikTok with 30,200,000 posts and the most searches on Google.
The US has taken the top spot as the most searched country with 1,120,000 Google searches in the past three years, the report said.
“Whether you want to see its iconic landmarks, like the Empire State Building or the Golden Gate Bridge, or you’re a movie buff who wants to walk the Walk of Fame, the US has a lot to explore.” Titan Travel wrote.

Japan has taken the top spot for the most posts on social media from people visiting the country.
Travel Titan experts noted in the report, “Japan is full of natural beauty, from Mount Fuji dominating the Shizuoka skyline to the beautiful sacred cherry trees that bloom Sakura.”

New York City’s iconic Central Park was the most tagged landmark on social media with a combined 8.5 million followers on Instagram and TikTok.
It was followed by the Eiffel Tower in France and Niagara Falls in Canada.

Titan Travel also revealed the five most popular cities by combining data from Instagram posts, TikTok posts, Google searches and search traffic over the past three years.
Cities are then given a “social tourism score” out of 10.
“We also used the 2023 edition of the Social Travel Index, which was collected on May 4, 2023, to calculate the percentage increase in Instagram posts of cities and countries and the change in positions since then,” said the Titan Travel report.
