Sonja Flemming/CBSNCIS fans are still reeling from Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer’s split – but their romance isn’t the only thing to focus on in season 22.
Katrina Lawwho plays the role of Knight, has only been told Us Weekly earlier this month that Wilmer ValderramaNick Torres will cause problems with his love life. “His love will cause drama,” he teased. “It’s going to be great.”
Torres revealed during episode 3, which aired on October 28, that she wanted the office to get a new gym because she’s “trying to get my mind right.”
Torres confided in Knight at the time that he wanted to “get back out there, get back in the game.” He clarified that he meant “love game” after having his heart broken by Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) three years ago when he abruptly left the group and ended his budding relationship with Torres. (Wickersham exited the series in 2021 after eight seasons.)

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had a special someone in my life,” he admitted, explaining that if he wants to find someone new, “I have to put my best life out there.”
Brian Dietzenportrayer Palmer, revealed that Torres’ dating life is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the new flames on the NCIS team.
“There’s a romance going on – I can’t give too much away – but not only with Torres,” Dietzen, 46, said to himself. Us in an interview with Law, 39. “There will be other people in the group who may find [romance].”
He pointed out that fans have seen that with Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), who revealed during season 22, episode 2, that he is looking for something serious with his long-distance partner, Lena Paulsen (Marem Hassler). “He’s got something to check,” Dietzen said of Vance.
“That’s what I love most about our show is that, you know, there are other television shows or other practices [are] the sadness of the headlines and really focused on the situation of the church, our show does well,” said Dietzen. “But again, our shows are removed from the characters. And we see how these cases affect the people who solve them.”
He added: “Great focus and character development [we have]that’s what made me go back to work. I think that’s what makes people watch this thing.”
When it comes to their characters’ relationships, Law and Dietzen told Us that Knight and Palmer have never “slammed” the door on romance, but it’s “closed for now.”
During the November 4 episode, Knight and Palmer finally talked after breaking up at the end of season 21. Although Knight expressed that he was open to getting back together, Palmer reminded him that right now they are not what the other person needs.
“Of course it’s still looking between Jimmy and Knight. The attraction is still there, and you know, the two are still exploring each other,” said Law teasing the two. “It hasn’t gone yet.”
Dietzen noted that viewers will have to wait and see if their breakup is “set on the rocks” or if they’ll “trend back there again.”
