Jon M. Chu Joins ‘Bad’ Premiere Almost Like A Wife Giving Birth

The director, 45, missed the Los Angeles premiere of his much-anticipated musical film. They are not badas his wife, Kristin HodgeShe went into labor with their fifth child.
“This film has been going in mysterious directions,” Chu wrote on his Instagram Story, announcing that he would not be attending the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. “Today is the day I’ve been dreaming about. Two kids (a movie and a little girl) all at once and I really couldn’t be happier. I won’t be able to be at the Wicked Premiere tonight with you all… there was a change of plans around 4am this morning…”
Chu went on to say that she will be welcoming her fifth child into the world and, no, “they won’t name it Galphaba.”
“Sending all the love to our incredibly talented players and staff tonight. They deserve it and send an extra welcome to my little girl bursting her bubble and coming into our world any time now. If my wife has half the courage, @cynthiaerivo @arianagrande @michelleyeoh_official or @marissa_edob will also defy gravity one day.”
The director also shared a photo of his newly pressed tuxedo, writing, “Should I just wear a suit for a birthday?”
Anyway, he made sure to go live on Premiere and drop a few comments.

A few hours later, Chu updated his followers with a video of his wife holding their newborn baby girl. “I can’t believe this happened while the movie was playing for the first time,” he wrote. “Magic is in the air. Happy First Day!! Welcome to our world, you will do good. You have a lot of witches on your side.”
Chu and Hodge are already parents to Willow, 7, Jonathan Heights, 5, Ruby, 3, and Iggy, 20 months.

Platt, 31, echoed those sentiments, sharing on his Instagram story, “The triumph of @wickedmovie cannot be overstated. The best adaptation, ever of @jonmchu’s generation this is totally worthy of its source material. I couldn’t have dreamed it better, and we rarely get music of movies that are played with love, skill and care.”
He added: “@cynthiaerivo and @arianagrande put on a concert that will forever be part of the music video. I feel very proud of them and I know that everyone who loves this music so much will be happy.”
