Happy’s Place Recap: Reba McEntire, Rex Linn Enjoy a Good Screen Day

This is Happy’s place have fun Reba McEntire again Rex Linnoff-screen relationships by pairing their fictional characters on an emotional – and endearing – fishing trip.

On the Friday, November 8, episode of the hit NBC series, Emmett (Linn) sent Bobbie (McEntire) to bring back the Fish Fry on Monday. Chef used to go fishing with Bobbie’s father but since Happy died, Emmett volunteered for Bobbie to join him on the trip instead.

“The tavern will live one day without you, I swear. This is your chance to relax and enjoy life,” Emmett told Bobbie about taking his mind off work, to which he replied, “Let’s get out there and go fishing already. If we’re fishing fast, I’m going back to the bar early and making sure it doesn’t burn down without me.”

To others, running away seemed to be Bobbie and Emmett’s job. Other viewers — love Us – felt something less than romantic after Bobbie and Emmett found themselves stranded without cell service and a storm forced them to spend time together in a cabin.

“It seems like we’re going nowhere a little bit. I’m going to get over this and why don’t you try to find a hobby?” Emmett asked Bobbie before he started playing with something made out of fish wood. “Drink a beer!”

The two later have an emotional conversation where Bobbie talks about her father’s death off-screen.

“The first time I took him out of here, what he wanted to do was to leave. After he relaxed a bit though, it became his favorite thing to do. It’s the same for me,” Emmett recalled. “I’m telling you, there’s nothing better than spending the day fishing with your best friend.”

However, Bobbie wasn’t so convinced that Emmett cared about Happy, saying, “I used to think of you and Daddy as best friends. Why didn’t you go to your best friend’s memorial? We were all there but not you. … I have been wanting to know this since that day. But I thought I would wait until we were locked in the outhouse to ask.”

In response, Emmett revealed that he “didn’t” miss Happy’s anniversary.

“I was here. That’s where I did my memorial service for Happy. I put on his favorite Willie Nelson tape, helped myself to one of the 200 beers he had here,” he shared. how much I miss him.”

Bobbie and Emmett’s unofficial date resurfaced after they discovered their differences. Later in the episode, Emmett showed Bobbie how to fish beer out of his fridge. He also gave her advice about prioritizing her personal life over running Happy’s Place.

“He’s like her—he’s full of life. But to be full of life, you need to have it and Happy can do that. Because he had someone in the tavern that he trusted. You,” Emmett told Bobbie, who added, “I don’t mind having more time off in my life. Maybe I’ll start fishing too.”

To top off their sweet moment, Bobbie asked Emmett to play a Willie Nelson song and chose “Yesterday’s Wine.”

“Miracles come from strange places/Good to meet you here,” Nelson sang as Bobbie and Emmett enjoyed their precious time together. “Last time I saw you, you just left Houston / Sit down, let me buy you a beer.”

This is Happy’s placepremiered in October, it follows Bobbie as she inherits her father’s restaurant and finds a new business partner in her half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) he didn’t know he had. Melissa Peterman – who starred with McEntire, 69, in Reba – plays a waitress in a restaurant and McEntire’s boyfriend appears as a chef in a bar.

McEntire just spoke to him Us Weekly about getting the chance to work with Linn, 67, on his new sitcom.

“Rex and I are best friends. We have similar likes and dislikes. We are food lovers. We love to cook. We all wanted to be a cowboy and a cowgirl,” he said in an October cover story about Linn, who they knew for nearly three decades before they started dating in 2020. “Then we entered the entertainment business. We are always looking for a new series or movie to watch. He says his homework is to watch other actors and learn from them. I do it for pure fun. We are currently broadcasting The Penguin.”
