Even liberals, Trump critics blast Liz Cheney’s media coverage comments: ‘Bald-faced lies’
The backlash the media is facing over former President Trump’s recent coverage of Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., goes far beyond her supporters.
At an event in Glendale, Arizona, Trump took a swipe at Cheney, who has been campaigning to support Vice President Kamala Harris, for being a “war hawk”.
“I am innocent [former Vice President Dick Cheney] by sticking with his daughter, but his daughter is a dumb person. You are very dumb, you are a war hawk. Let’s have him standing there with a gun and nine barrels shooting at him, OK? Let’s see how you feel about it. You know, when the guns are trained on his face,” Trump said. the enemy’s mouth.”

Several news organizations twisted Trump’s comments to suggest he wanted Cheney “killed.”
The New York Times had the headline “Trump attacks Liz Cheney using violent war imagery.” The Washington Post published “Trump suggests ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should have ‘guns trained on her face.'” CNN’s article went further, reading “Trump says ‘war hawk’ Liz Cheney should be shot over violent rhetoric against him. build.”
The Drudge Report went viral with its front-page headline in bold red letters, “TRUMP CALLS FOR CHENEY’S ASSASSINATION.”

An impressive spread took place in the air.
“Former President Donald Trump is escalating his violent rhetoric, suggesting that one of his most vocal critics, former Congressman Liz Cheney, should be impeached,” CNN anchor Kasie Hunt told viewers.
Hunt’s CNN colleague Jim Acosta blasted Speaker Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., about Trump’s comments, saying, “When he says nine barrels are shooting at him, that conjures up images of a firing squad. It conjures up images of execution, doesn’t it?”
MSNBC’s Jonathan Lemire called it “the latest surge in really dangerous, violent rhetoric,” while former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told “The View” co-hosts it was “absolutely” a threat to Cheney.
However, not everyone buys the narrative. And not just Trump defenders.

Critics of the former president in political circles complained about the media coverage.
“Trump did NOT call for Liz Cheney to be killed,” former GOP congressman and anti-Trump critic Joe Walsh responded to X. “Look, you know how I feel about Trump, and I’ve been out there every day for 2- 3 months campaigning for @KamalaHarris to get elected, but this short clip is so deceiving.”
“He is a terrible person who is completely unfit for office, but the truth should always matter. And the truth is that Trump is not calling for Liz Cheney to be killed,” Walsh added.

“This is a typical case of Trump saying something offensive and the media bailing him out by deliberately misleading. You don’t have to lie about it for the comment to be completely irresponsible. And if you do, you lose all credibility and no one believes anything you say,” continued Uygur.

Look at the context – Trump is talking about giving him a weapon. Usually, the people who are put in front of firing squads are not armed.

Political scientist Ian Bremmer blasted the Drudge Report article, saying, “This is extraordinary irresponsibility, made worse by the fact that it is becoming increasingly common in political organizations in the United States.”
“Trump’s ‘bloodbath’ comments and his recent one on Liz Cheney were both exaggerated and taken out of context while the media thought apostrophes excused Joe Biden. This is why trust in the press is falling and why Trump is close to winning,” said the conservative broadcaster. – Eric Erickson.
