Elisabeth Moss Is Fun And Chilling In This 92% Rotten Tomatoes Feature Now Streaming

In recent years, Universal has been looking at its extensive catalog of historic films and bringing them to a new generation. Despite the financial setbacks the studio tackled the release of the 2017 Tom Cruise-led remake. MotherUniversal is moving forward with its plans to retell these epic stories when it hires filmmaker Leigh Whannell to direct The Invisible Man. The studio’s decision paid off big and now, interested audiences can head over to Prime Video to check it out The Invisible Man as it is being broadcast now.

A remake based on a classic novel

It’s playing The Handmaid’s TaleDirected by Elisabeth Moss, the film serves as a remake of the 1933 film of the same name, drawing parts of its plot from HG Wells’ 1897 novel. In The Invisible Manjoining the Prime Video broadcast alongside a strong lineup of other options for the intense season, Moss plays Cecilia Kass, a woman who puts her life on the line to escape an abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Adrian Griffin. After Adrian kills himself, it seems that Cecilia will finally find peace, but her life soon turns upside down when it appears that her ex-husband is still tormenting her from beyond the grave.

Like those who check The Invisible Man while streaming on Prime Video will find that, the film starts off on an incredibly strong note and never takes its foot off the gas. It is a high octane ride but it should also be viewed with consideration and care by those who have experienced domestic abuse and gone through a painful relationship as it is filled with that feeling.

At the same time, it’s this deep look at how these types of relationships can alter our brain chemistry that allows Leigh Whannell to deliver a gut punch from start to finish.

Discharge Affected Epidemic

The year was 2020, and theatergoers had no idea their lives were about to change for the foreseeable future when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and venues closed. Watching The Invisible Man in streaming is certainly similar to how many enjoyed the film when it was first released as it would go from theaters to digital rental just three weeks after its arrival.

Still, even in its short theatrical run, the film managed to gross an impressive $145 million against its $7 million budget marking it as a financial success for Universal – a much-needed win for the studio.

Apparently pleased with the work Leigh Whannell has garnered for his work on the Elisabeth Moss-led thriller, Universal has tapped the director to write and star in the upcoming Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner-led Monsters, The Wolf Man.

With Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin’s (collectively known as Radio Silence) success Abigail – which served as a reimagining of the 1936 classic Dracula’s daughter – earlier this year, the studio is well on its way to bringing new life to these iconic films.
