Navy parachutist crashes mother and teenager during operation San Francisco: video

A Navy parachutist dropped in on a mother and child during a Fleet Week performance in San Francisco.

The accident happened Sunday at Marina Green after one of the six members of the Navy Leap Frogs parachute team appeared to miss the landing, according to KTVU.

Photos taken from the incident show a Navy parachutist with a banner attached to it crashing into a crowd of spectators.

The mother and her child who were hit both received minor injuries, the mother was taken to the hospital for evaluation, the station said.

“Our thoughts are with the man and his family. Safety is our top priority,” the Navy told KTVU in a statement. “We cannot quickly assess what happened, but we will review the incident to find the cause.”

It is said that the pilot of the parachute was not injured.

On its website, the Navy says the Leap Frogs have “performed gravity-defying demonstrations across the country that demonstrate the Navy’s unique ability.”
