This mental health chatbot aims to fill the counseling gap in informal schools

When school districts strive to support their students’ mental health, the beginning of the Sonar Mental Health of her “good partner” called Sonny to help.

As described at Wall Street Journal, Sonny is a relating dialogue in human resource integration and AI. When students send their questions to Sonny, AI suggests feedback, but it is finally responsible.

Sonar signed their homework on January 2024 and says now it is now available for middle-4,500 central school students and high districts in nine districts. The company says negotiations are currently considered by a group of six people with Psychology, social work and disaster-scale support.

CEO Drew Bavir told the magazine that clarifies students and schools that Sonny is not therapist, and that Sonar’s workers will work with schools and parents to find the therapists.

The main reason why this approach may challenge school districts in the current shortage of counselors – the education department says 17% of high schools have a high school.
