Chhath and Diwali Special Trains: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announces 12,500 coaches for the festive season.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced the addition of special coaches and trains for the occasion of Chaath puja and Diwali across the country to ensure smooth travel of passengers.
Vaishnaw said, “This festive season, General Coach has increased to 108 trains. 12,500 coaches have been authorized for Chhath puja and Diwali special trains. For 2024-25, a total of 5,975 trains have been notified till today. This will help more than 1 million passengers go home during the Puja rush In 2023-24 a total of 4,429 special trains ran during the holidays.
Earlier on September 24, Aswhini Vaishnaw had tested Kavach 4.0 in Rajasthan and said that Kavach 4.0 has started for the first time in India from Sawai Madhopur, adding that in the coming years, 10 thousand trains will be covered by Kavach.
“Kavach 4.0 has started for the first time in India from Sawai Madhopur… Armoring work at this place has been completed, this is just the beginning, in the coming years, 10 thousand trains will be covered with armor and 9. thousand kilometers of additional armor work will be done,” said Vaishnaw he told reporters.
Kavach is a natively developed automatic train security (ATP) system. It is a highly technical system, requiring high security certification.
Kavach assists the loco driver in trains running within the specified speed limits by applying brakes automatically in case the loco driver fails to do so and also helps the train to move safely during bad weather.
On September 20, Vaishnaw launched the Bharat Gaurav train for the Bharat-Nepal Yatra at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi on Friday and said that the visitors will be able to experience the rich cultural heritage shared by India and Nepal.
