Marvel Comics Still Doesn’t Want Peter Parker To Get Married Again

Once again, the question of whether or not Spider-Man should remain a bachelor has made headlines in some online outlets.
As told by PopVerse, current X-Men editor Tom Brevoort fielded a question about Marvel’s editorial guidelines during a panel at Baltimore Comic Con over the weekend. Brevoort responded, “When you work for Marvel, the ground rules are that all characters are Marvel and Marvel as the agency decides what is right and what is wrong for these characters.” So there are certain things you don’t want Spider-Man to do—”
At this point, a member of the audience who had originally asked the question intervened with a counterintuitive follow-up: “like going back. However, the deal worked for Marvel’s editorial team by removing their star character from the river of wedded bliss and returning her to the unforgiving dating pool of the Marvel Universe. Overall, the students were not happy with the development.
Despite the outcry from fans, Marvel refused to budge from the decision and Peter and Mary Jane continue to live in sin to this day. Although as noted by the outlet, the couple is back together and officially married in the pages of The Ultimate Spider-Manseries set in a different continuity than Marvel’s main range.
