Early polling data shows good news for GOP, Trump: pro

Mail-in polling data from three key states show the edge Democrats enjoyed in 2020 has narrowed, something one expert said is a good sign for Republicans and former President Donald Trump.

“It’s great news that Republicans are starting to vote early,” Jimmy Keady, founder and president of JLK Political Strategies, a Republican communications firm, told Fox News Digital.

The comments come as the Democratic Alliance’s margin in mail-in voting applications has narrowed significantly in Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, according to Decision Desk HQ data, reflecting a shift in voter habits that have defined the last two elections.

According to the data, the Democratic Alliance’s lead in mail-in ballot applications has dropped by more than 5 percentage points in Florida, by nearly 15% in North Carolina and by more than 35% in Pennsylvania.

Removing voters from voting in person or voting by mail can free up resources for campaigns, Keady said, allowing them to focus their attention on younger voters who often play a bigger role in deciding elections.

“I’m sure voters are complaining about messages, getting emails, getting phone calls to vote,” Keady said. “Campaigns are now at such a high level that when you go to vote, they stop…when a voter is about to vote, then they stop, that allows resources to be allocated from that voter to another voter.”

Turning out those low-income voters could play a big role in states like Pennsylvania and North Carolina, both of which are expected to once again be hardline states.

Vice President Kamala Harris holds a lead of less than a point in Pennsylvania, while Trump holds an even lead in North Carolina, according to Real Clear Politics polling, meaning the primary game for voters on each side could be decisive. factor in the election.

Democratic gains in mail-in and early voting may have been the difference in the 2020 election, but Keady sees the GOP’s momentum shifting in that direction in 2024.

“It definitely shows that A, there are people voting… but B, and that the base has accepted, kind of accepted that early voting is a fair and secure way to vote,” Keady said.

That will help Republicans compete with Democrats in an area where the party was at a disadvantage in 2020, Keady noted, something that could tip another close election in the GOP’s favor.

“As Republicans, we have to start getting the base to vote early, do the vote by mail, do these things that we know are safe and secure, so that people can go to the polls,” Democrats got it right. , years.”
