JESSICA TARLOV: 11 Biden Accomplishments We Can’t Ignore As Trump Takes Office
NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
This week, I jumped on the train and headed down to DC to cover the second inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
I am happy. It’s my first presentation and although the person I choose can be sworn, I understand the gravity of the moment. If something has only happened 47 times in history, it’s a big deal! It’s a privilege to be a part of it, whatever your politics.
That said, while we’re in the midst of welcoming Donald Trump back to the White House, it’s important not to forget all that has been accomplished during the Biden-Harris administration. Here are 11 things on my list. And yes, I know that his approval rating is at an all-time low and that the American people have chosen a different path. But that doesn’t change the facts on the ground. History will be more kind to Joe Biden than you think.
AS BIDEN FINISHES THE POLITICAL CAREER OF THE FIRST CENTURY, HIS FAILURE TO ANSWER THE PAGE TRUMP HAS BEEN SUGGESTED FOR THE PRESIDENT.
First of all, President Biden recently announced a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas. The deal is based on a three-pronged proposal by Biden that begins with the return of 33 Israeli and American hostages and ends with a plan to rebuild Gaza. Did Trump and his Israeli envoy make an impact? Definitely. But this was done on the watch of Biden and his negotiators.
2. Consider the power of economic recovery that presided over a pandemic that lasted more than a million years in America. Today, the unemployment rate is at 4.1 percent and President Biden is presiding over the lowest unemployment rate since Bill Clinton. GDP growth has stagnated at close to 3 percent. Although inflation remains stubborn, and has reached a low of 2.9 percent this month, the underlying inflation trend has eased to 3.2 percent. And the stock market? The best ever. Our recovery is the envy of the industrial world.
3. None of this would have happened without the American Rescue Act, which delivered $1,400 checks to many households (no, Donald Trump didn’t give you that money) and expanded the Child Tax Credit, which cut child poverty in half. 14 billion to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine and forgivable loans for small businesses. The Democrats got us back on track.

4. One of the major areas of achievement was addressing the cost of health care for Americans. Through the Defunding Act, Medicare insulin costs are up to $35 million for adults. There is now a $2,000 out-of-pocket drug cost under Medicare, saving 19 million Americans more than $400 a month. And let’s not forget that Medicare can negotiate drug prices now, a Democratic goal for years that was finally able to become a reality under Biden.
5. Is it infrastructure week? It really was! Biden’s infrastructure deal will transform America’s roads and bridges. High-speed rail is no longer a pipedream. Broadband for everyone, even rural Americans. Harbors and waterways will get the attention they’ve needed for decades and our cyber security will get a much-needed boost. Good, high-paying union jobs make all of this possible and, of course, it will take time for it all to come to fruition, but what this deal has started is a national monument.
6. The CHIPS and Science Act is one of the only major Biden accomplishments that Republicans will admit is a good thing. Historic investments in manufacturing that have led to hundreds of thousands of new jobs and a real strengthening of our national security make CHIPS a piece of marquee legislation. We no longer have to turn to China for our chips, a huge win for US superiority and security.
7. Although it flew largely under the radar, the PACT Act is a major piece of legislation that expands VA benefits and care for veterans who were exposed to 23 respiratory illnesses and cancers related to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxins. In just two years, more than one million PACT Act claims have been granted and nearly 900,000 veterans have received the disability benefits they deserve.
8, 9, 10, 11. There is much more to drive, like historic investment in HBCUs, 235 federal judges confirmed, tens of thousands in union pension savings and, most importantly, the first major gun safety legislation in decades.

Taken together, it’s hard to see how in the long run, Biden’s four years in office won’t be seen as having delivered in real and meaningful ways for the American people.
Are you going to Mount Rushmore? I don’t see. But the reduction of what he has done for this country reveals the reality of his legacy and there is no doubt that Trump will benefit greatly from the Biden agenda during his first two years in office.
