Newest Update For Marvel Rivals Has Removed Its Mod Support
Since its release last December, Marvel Rivals has become a new shooting hero. A lot of that can be attributed to your looks, and PC gamers have since made skin mods that make the game into non-Marvel characters, like making Jeff the Shark Chainsaw Man’s Pochita, or Iron Man be Dragon BallVegeta.
Sadly, NetEase seems to have killed it Marvel Rivals’ mod skin scene with the newest update of the game. The recent arrival of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman was part of the game’s first season update, and players discovered that the update came with a property hash check that disabled all modes on PC. As IGN notes, using mods violates the shooter’s terms of use, and NetEase sells premium skins for each. Competitors character always. And it is ready to apply its rule, as it issued a statement to the center advising players that “[not] modify any game files, as doing so risks banning.” So for PC players, they will have to always look like the characters as they are designed for the game.
NetEase may be rooted Marvel Rivals’ mod skins because they would have killed the revenue potential of the game. The game reportedly made $136 million in its launch month alone, but if you’re on PC, why spend money to look like the Winter Soldier Thunderbolts* where you can be Captain America like president Joe Biden or Donald Trump, or turn Black Panther into Ryan Gosling, one of our hard working white actors? The skins came off because Rivals’ society sends things that satisfy their hearts, and is encouraged by the increase of buildings like Smile again Godzilla they entered Call of Duty again Fortnite.
Will this completely stop the skin condition of the mod? Probably not, but it gives those modders a challenge—hopefully, things don’t come War Thunder absurd levels.
