Fighting

  • Two people were killed when Russian troops attacked the town of Siversk in the Donetsk region, according to Governor Vadym Filaskhin.

  • Two people were also killed when the city of Kamyanka-Dniprovska in the Russian-controlled area, in the Zaporizhia region, was attacked by Ukrainian fire, said Governor-elect of Moscow Yevgeny Belitsky. On Wednesday, a Russian-directed bomb attack on territory controlled by Ukraine killed at least 13 people and injured at least 30.
  • Ukraine’s air force said Russia has fired more than 51,000 bombs in Ukraine since its offensive began nearly three years ago.
  • Russian troops have established a bridge on the Ukrainian side of the Oskil River in the east of the country, the official said, referring to the military struggle in Kyiv. The river is at the forefront of some parts of the eastern Kharkiv region.

Weapons

  • An international consortium to buy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for Ukraine, led by the United Kingdom and Latvia, will send 30,000 newly ordered drones to Kyiv, the UK Ministry of Defense said.

Transportation

  • The EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has warned non-European carriers not to fly over western Russia due to the risk of being targeted by its air defense systems.
  • The EASA said last month’s crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines flight in Kazakhstan, when Russian jets fired on Ukrainian drones, showed the high risk. At least 38 people died in the accident.
