Xavier Legette Brings Raccoon Meat to Practice, Let Reporters Taste It

After his admission about eating raccoon meat went viral, the Carolina Panthers embraced it widely Xavier Legette they bring others to work to share.

Legette, 23, made the culinary revelation on the Dec. 10 episode of “St. The Browns Podcast,” hosted by the Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. “Like a raccoon you see in a garbage can,” said Legette when asked about his favorite food. “I’m hunting for it. I kill it. I take myself out. Cook. Eat it. That’s all.”

On Thursday, Dec. 26, Legette arrived at Panthers practice carrying leftover Christmas Day food in a reusable food container.

“We’re boiling that b– up,” Legette told the Panthers’ special teams coach Darren Bates while we’re showing the raccoon in the X-rated video. “Let that meat fall off the bone, you know what I’m talking about?”

A skeptical Bates got a spoon and decided to dig. “Come on, boy,” Legette said. “I know that jumped out at them [taste] sprouts and began to dance!”

When asked by one of his followers, “How was it?,” Bates replied, “Wasn’t it bad. It didn’t taste like I thought it would.”

It wasn’t just the Panthers coaches getting in on the raccoon fun, either.

Panthers beat writer Sheena Soon shared a video of himself and Legette using X. “I have to try!” Legette told the assembled group of reporters.

He quickly picked up a piece of raccoon meat with his fingers and gave it to himself. “That’s not bad, is it?,” asked Legette with a big smile.

“Not bad, not bad,” Quick said.

Double quick with X, writing, “NOTICE: I tried the coon….and it wasn’t bad! Spicy and well seasoned.”

While passing the meat, Legette was asked how he can consider himself a “picky eater” when he likes to eat raccoon.

“I mean, I don’t eat chili and all that stuff,” Legette said in a video captured by Carolina Blitz. “Those things are very unusual for me.”

Legette also said that he will not eat “onions” for the same reason. “The coon is normal,” Legette said with a laugh.

In the meeting “St. Brown Podcast,” Legette said he has been eating raccoon all his life, especially around holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. In addition, Legette said he usually eats squirrel and rabbit.

“Everybody’s trying to keep things as sweet as chicken,” Legette explained. But the raccoon has its own taste.
