A mass shooting in Alabama has left four people dead and at least 21 others injured

Four people were killed and at least 21 others were injured in a shooting that broke out Saturday night in Birmingham, Alabama.
Two men and a woman died at the scene in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South neighborhood near the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a fourth victim died at the university’s hospital, Birmingham police told AL.com.
The incident happened after 11 o’clock at night, said police spokesperson Truman Fitzgerald to the media.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue took eight victims to hospital, and police said four of those victims had life-threatening injuries.
Many others also came to the hospitals in private vehicles.

Police say that a number of gunmen are believed to be the shooters. No suspects have been arrested.
“Rest assured that we will do everything we can to expose, identify and hunt down whoever victimized our people,” Fitzgerald told AL.com.

Roads are closed in the area as police continue to investigate.
Fitzgerald said police contacted the FBI and ATF for assistance.
